If you've been following closely you may be wondering what I'm still doing in the country. We decided on postponing our trip until Thailand's New Year Songkran.
Here is a quick break down of lessons learned/reasons on the decision:
1) New Years Eve celebrations are a Eurocentric celebration.
I always thought everyone would be partying it up with a big countdown. Not the case! In some places the Lunar New Year is where it's at or they have their own traditions that are wildly more popular than counting down to the New Year.
2) Language Barrier.
Money was tight with other budgets so we tried to do this without a professional with a plan to first send it out in English then follow up with a letter in their language translated by a friend or friend of friend.
3) Friends.
While many people asked around or offered help the other half of the people didn't even return messages!
Video below is an example of the type of programing you can watch in Japan during New Year's on the show I linked above.
All i need now is someone to translate it into Japanese and Korean!

After I discovered Jicoo while researching Japanese clubs I had to wonder, what do Japanese people look forward to do in America besides Disney Land and surfing? Will I guess we have other cool landmarks and national parks but damn Japan has Ice Spheres!
This place was designed by Leiji Matsumoto who worked on the anime series Galaxy Train 999.
You need to see the changing led lights in action! Its worth the time to spend digging around the site to watch the video. I want a spaceship of the sea lounge, with stripper cowgirls, and psychedelic light show with my fine dinning damn it!
My day job (err night job or where I make the money outside of events) has built in vacation time, or "forced vacation" as I like to call it. What better way to spend it traveling? Why traveling and having someone else front the expenses!
So me and my pal DJ SG + whoever we can round up as our international entourage are going to try to get booked at a club on the following dates and cities:
December 26th - January 2nd: Osaka, Japan
January 2nd - January 5th: Korea
January 5th - January 11th: Shanghai, China
January 12th - January 19th: Bangkok, Thailand
January 20th - January 28th: Sydney, Australia
We're already booked for Thailand, I'm working on Japan and SG is working on China. So far the strategy has been to spam clubs telling them we'll be in town and to hire us because our network doesn't have the connections overseas yet. If you can help shoot us a comment!
